All About Us

IT ALL BEGINS AND ENDS WITH FAMILY

Aaron and I  married in the Bountiful LDS Temple on June 20, 2003.  We have been married for almost 14 years now and it just keeps getting better.

From as early as Emily can remember, she has wanted to be a mother. There has been no other dream or goal so powerful in her life. Aaron has always wanted to be a dad. He loves children and enjoys getting down on their level and helping them feel special. He looks forward to when he can have a houseful of kids to wrestle with, play with, and read to.  We both love watching a child’s eyes light up when they learn something new or feel loved and special.  What a blessing our Miles and Caleb have been and we know that any child we receive is a blessing from God and we will cherish that blessing every day.

Our family and our faith is what molds us and keeps us strong and happy.  Both Aaron and Emily were raised in good homes where we were loved and surrounded by loved ones.  While life was never perfect, we never wanted for anything because we knew that our parents loved us, and that God loved us.

Aaron works so hard to be the best provider and dad anyone could ask for.  He works for a national surgical company as a surgical technician.  He takes equipment and supplies to rural locations that don't have the necessary equipment to perform eye surgeries.  He loves his job and enjoys being able to help people.  While he travels a few nights a week, he cherishes being home and spending it with family. His family is his number one priority. He is never happier than when he is playing with Miles and Caleb.  You will often find him in an epic Nerf battle with Miles, playing chase with Caleb, helping Miles with his reading, letting Caleb "help" him make breakfast or clean the kitchen, or playing army guys or cops and robbers with Miles.  Aaron is the king of bedtime stories and loves making up stories.
Aaron is a calming influence on the rest of our family.  His presence just makes you feel safe and at peace.  He has a very strong faith in Christ and strives every day to do his best at his church activities and to be more like our Savior, Jesus Christ.  We are blessed that he is the head of our home.

Emily is an at-home mommy.  This transition happened almost a year ago and has been so fulfilling.  It is a challenge for her, because she is a people-person who enjoys being around her peers.  But there is nothing more important than being there for her children.  It is a blessing to be able to be home and be there for all of life's moments.  Emily loves to cook.  She jokes that her love language is food.  Cooking for you is how she shows she loves you, as is evidenced by Aaron's weight gain since they got married! 😉  She loves to be with her boys...and her husband.  While she isn't as fun-loving as Aaron, she can let her hair down and be silly with the best of them.  One of her favorite things to do is play in the rain with Miles.  She thrives on creativity and watching her children succeed.  She is involved with Miles' school and enjoys making sure all the children are getting the best education possible and getting the support and love they need from the teachers and the administration.
Emily has a deep-seeded compassion for others and strives to reach out to other to help make their lives easier and happier.  She is involved with the children of her church congregation and enjoys having discussions with her 10 & 11 year old class about our Savior and His gospel.  She learns so much about our Heavenly Father's love for his children as she interacts with them.

Miles is now 6, almost 7, and is such a joy to our family.  He is very tall for his age and often gets mistaken for a third grader.  He is in first grade is doing so well.  He has an amazing teacher who is willing to go the extra mile to help him succeed.  He has some learning struggles, but is thriving despite them.  Miles loves to play outside.  He loves football and is a die-hard Denver Broncos fan.  He wants to be a police officer when he grows up and loves anything to do with being able to come “to the rescue!”  He is  currently obsessed with his Army guys and getting rid of all the bad guys to make us all safe.  He loves doing anything with is dad.  He is definitely a daddy's boy and it shows.  It is so fun to watch them be silly or serious together.  He has a very sweet disposition and doesn’t like to see people sad.  He has a strong sense of right and wrong and has a hard time when those around him don't follow the rules.  He is an amazing big brother to Caleb and tells us often that we need a baby.

Caleb is our strong-willed, independent 2 year-old.  We had the amazing blessing and opportunity to welcome him into our family through adoption.  Miss H. is an incredibly strong woman and we are forever grateful to her for allowing us to raise him as our own  She and her family are part of our family.  Caleb is constantly on the go and constantly eating.  He is learning new things every day and amazes us with his counting and alphabet skills.  He is a delight to be around and his smile and sparkling brown eyes can get him out of any trouble he is in.  He follows his dad and big brother everywhere.

Parenthood is more rewarding then we ever imagined it would be, but also challenging—but we love the challenge!  We love being together as a family.  There is nothing more rewarding than to spend the day doing anything together, whether it’s household chores, yard work, grocery shopping, playing with balls and blocks,  hiking, fishing, reading, or just cuddling up in front of the television.
